I love it when young designers reinvent and rethink ethnic Indian handloom fabrics, to create modern fashionable fusion outfits…. While still maintaining their Indian-ness! Fabrics like Khadi, cotton silks, Bhagalpuris and Ikats have been my all-time favourite and the last couple of years have seen a huge fashion revolution when it comes to Indian handloom.
Never before has young India taken pride in its ethnic handloom culture, like it is today… especially with the whole Make in India movement taking centre-stage in the Indian fashion industry!
A few posts ago… I did a piece on reinventing Indian Handlooms by wearing the traditional saaree in a modern avatar on jeans! (Read here) and one on wearing Ikat weaves in a sexy crop top co-ordinate set (Read here)!
Today, I’m celebrating a young designer who has taken hand woven Khadi Cotton and reinvented it into gorgeous summer-fusion wear!
Like a breath of summer breeze, Trisha Dutta’s new collection, Nazneen, is an ode of Femininity! Right from the fluid cotton khadi fabrics… to the dainty, refreshing colours… everything about it is a celebration of the feminine form!
In this collection… she has managed to contemporize ethnic Khadi cotton, and turned it into gorgeous jumpsuits, summer dresses and elegant sarees in lovely pastels!! They’re fashionable and modern, and yet somehow they feel earthy and rooted!
And what’s more is that Trisha Dutta Label also does made-to-measure outfits, that too, at the customer’s convenience 🙂 (Check out their instagram: https://www.instagram.com/trishaduttadesign/ and their Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/trishaduttadesign/)
So here are two looks in 2 of my favourite outfits from this collection…
Look 1: AquaFlow
I’ve styled this gorgeous, fluid jumpsuit in a slightly indo-fusion look, with just those ethnic silver earrings and the brightly embroidered Balinese handbag, to give it that pop of colour!
I decided not to accessorize it too much since I wanted the dress in itself to remain the highlight! My obsession of multiple rings, of course, I couldn’t manage to keep at bay!
Look 2: PinkSummer
This gorgeous summer dress in cotton khadi playing with the colours of the sunset, is elegance personified. I’ve given it a minimal boho twist with earrings, (which by the way, are my own creations :D), the large tribal ring and a couple of metallic tattoos on my neck, that’s a gypsy symbol for the ‘Goddess of Truth’.
For the footwear, I’m wearing my tan tie-ups from Forever21, and using the tan fringe bag from Francesca’s, in order to maintain the easy-going… boho vibeof the entire look!
I’m sure you’ll love the outfits and do let me know if you try out these looks 😉
